Virginity has no impact on a pap. It is very important you have this test done. It can help detect cancers early, which for "women cancers" is critical for survival. I skipped my exams for awhile and ended up having some serious problems with ovarian cysts.
It is very natural to be nervous. The procedure, while uncomfortable, is not the end of the world. Your doctor will have an assistant there, so you don't have to worry about anything inappropriate happening. Also, if it makes you feel better, take someone with you. I've had friends who used to have their mom go with them. Some stayed in the waiting room and some went into the actual exam. Keep in mind tho, if they stay in the exam room with you, they will see you naked.

The PAP is routinely done from the age of 18 and on. You don't have to allow it to be done. You have the right to refuse exams, testing and treatment. It's a little uncomfortable and even more so if you're tense. It won't mean losing your virginity. (Where do people get that idea??) If your OB/Gyn is male, there will be a female medical assistant in the room at all times for both the breast exam and the pelvic exam (which includes the PAP). If you're under 18, is there some special reason for this that you haven't told us?

Good question. Your concern is quite understandable. I have it done at least once a year... and I can imagine the hymen breaking during the procedure. Talk to your gynecologist about it. A pap smear is done to benefit you.

No, as far as I know a pap smear comes only after any girl/woman is sexually active. Please call different doctors office and ask this question. Just say "are pap smears necessary for me if I am a virgin?", or "is it true that pap smears are only for women who have been sexually active?".

Your first exam should be after you are sexually active or reach the age of 21 (whichever comes first)
It's normal to feel nervous, it's an intrusive test, but it's not that bad. You have a sheet covering you so you don't see anything and it's over really quick. Tell them you are nervous and they can talk you through it.

My GP at the time where i was still virgin said i could afford not doing it, because that will mean loosing your virginity. If there is nothing alarming detected by scans and other i think you can hang on until your loose it.
