They were good while they lasted. I still love Sweet Child o Mine, Paradise City, You could be mine, Civil War, November Rain etc.

Who would you say are the best alternative? Axl's Motley crew calling themselves "Guns n Roses" or Slash and the boys with Velvet Revolver (who seem to be basically GnR without Axl!)?

I dunno, it just seems there aren't any really good rock n roll bands around right now. When you've waded through all the RnB and dance/rap stuff the only guitar-playing bands all seem to be a bit up themselves. Ooh I'm sounding my age aren't I (34!)

Actually someone I know (who is in a well known Welsh band) played the same festival as Axl Rose in the summer and said the guy was a complete ****. He partitioned all off around his dressing room so noone could get near him and refused to speak to anyone. His manageent went around telling all the other bands not to make eye contact, speak to him or approach him in anyway. What a tosser!

By default Velvet Revolver have to be better seeing as how Axl's band STILL haven't released 'Chinese Democracy'.

I still occasionally slip Appetite or one of the Illusion discs into the cd player, usually in the car during summer road trips. I own Slash's Snake Pit. Velvet Revolver are awesome and I can't wait until their next one comes out. Axl is a nutjob and I could give a crap about Chinese Democracy. It's been what, 12 years??? Dude, give up! Your a dick, your hair is ridiculous, and nobody cares!

Actually, there's no good music out right now, and there hasn't been for the past 8-10 years. Not from any genre. It all sucks.

Guns n Roses were good in their time however as the years have gone by it seems that Axl Rose has crawled even further up his own butt, he is still frequently late for gigs if he shows up at all, i mean how many fans will stay loyal to him when he treats them like sh1t.
However gnr's music stands out for itself, as does that of velvet revolver, i still think that someday a gnr reunion will happen if the price is right.

It's not exactly news that Axl is a tosser is it? LOL

I like Velvet Revolver so I'll go with them. Guns N Roses were over in the early 90s. No matter what plastic Axl releases now it isn't really Guns anymore.

I am 23 and I still listen to GnR. I enjoy the music, it's fun and frivolous and it still makes me bang my head sometimes. I know it sounds crazy but I have been listening to it for a while. I personally will not buy Axl's imitation GnR cd if it ever comes out, because the boys are not all in it. Who can have GnR without Axl, Slash, Izzy, and the other guy(my mind drew a blank). This is my personal opinion, but Axl is just stupid.

You're right. There aren't many good (newer) rock bands around. Check out Buckcherry though. I'm pretty impressed with them. Especially their first two albums.

GnR were great while they were around. Axl is just a F#$%up who thinks he's some great musician now. Velvet revolver is good. I like Audioslave too.

I love GNR. If you want to find a band that is more like GNR than Velvet Revolver, check out Slash's Snakepit. I did buy one of Izzy Stradlin's solo albums, it wasnt that good. Guns N Roses were definatley the kick in the *** that rock needed in 1987 and I still love to listen to them. UYI I is my favorite.

Yeah, I love the same tracks as you do. I also love their version of 'Knocking on Heaven's Door'. I listen to their stuff in the car. Velvet Revolver are a bit heavy for me, although I do like Slash.

My life improved immesurably when I bought a digital radio and discovered Planet Rock. They have some amazing stuff on there. I think you'd like it.

Love 'em Saw 'em in July! at a danish music festival they were the headliners and turned up two hours late due to Axl's arrest in Sweden! It was an amazing performance. Welcome To The Jungle has to be by favourite gnr song!

I'm only 19, so I guess they'd just started up when I was born.

Anyway, I LOVE Sweet Child of Mine (Reminds me of my girlfriend <3), Rocket Queen and Mr. Brownstone.

I only know two songs by Velvet Revolver (Slither and Pieces, I think they're called?), but I liked them. I guess you're probably not allowed to ask questions within questions, but is Slash South African?

Call me weird, but he has a lot of physical similarities to a guy I liked at college, who was South African, and I know a girl who used to be - IMO - his female counterpart.
