Here's a good way to remember:

"30 Days has September, April, June and November, 31 has the rest except for February."

So its January, March, May, July, August, October, and December

Make a fist with your left hand, starting with your knuckle on your pinkie as January. February would be the space between your pinkie knuckle and the next. The knuckle of your ring finger is March, and so on and so forth. When you get to the knuckle of your index finger, go back to the knuckle of your pinkie as August. The "knuckle months" are months with 31 days, the ones that fall in between are 30 days of course February only have 28.

There is an easy way to remember. Put your finger on the knuckle of your other hand (the index finger knuckle). This represents January (31 days). now move your finger to the space between your index finger knuckle and your middle finger knuckle. this represents February (28.29 days). Then onto your middle finger knuckle, which represents March (31 days). And so on...

each knuckle represents a 31 day month. When you get to your pinky knuckle, start over with your index finger knuckle. July and August both have 31 days and they are your pinky and index finger (second time) respectively.

a grade school teacher taught me this. I still use it today as an adult. make 2 fists with your hands. holding them side by side in front of you. start counting from the left pinky knuckle. going towards the right. do this.. knuckle is 31, like up, valley inbetween the knuckles are 30 days (or Febuary 28/29).. so go like this up=31(Jan), down 28(FEb),up=31 (Mar), down=30(Apr).. do this until you get to your left hand pointer knuckle.. it should be up=31(July). then skip over to the right hand, pointer knuckle up=31(Aug), down=30(Sep), etc until Dec.. get it?...

30 days hath September, April, May, and No Wonder
All the rest eat peanut butter
Except grandmother who drives a green buick

Hmm...I may have that a little messed up :-)

Actually, I think that's from the old comic strip Pogo, by Walt Kelley. That's how my Dad used to always say that phrase. Strangely enough, it's still how I remember the number of days in each month.
