what do these last names trace back to?

My fathers last name is Washington and my mothers last name was Ligon. Does anyone know anything about these last names I got on the internet and had no luck there.

Ligon sounds slavic to me.

Washington is English.

Washington probably can be traced back to our first president, while Ligon is most likely a severe contraction of an area in France.
