THE TELEMARKETER
The phone rang as I was sitting down to my evening meal, and as I answered it I was greeted with “is this Karl Brummer?” Not sounding anything like my name, I asked who is calling. The telemarketer said he was with the Rubber Band Powered Freezer Company or something like that. Then I asked him if he knew Karl personally and why was he calling this number.
I then said off to the side. “get some pictures of the body at various angles and the blood smears”, I then turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to testify in this murder case.
I questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call.
The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a shaky voice. I then told him we had located his position and the police were entering the building to take him into custody, at that point I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away.
My wife asked me as I returned to our table why I had tears streaming down my face and so help me, I couldn’t tell her for about fifteen minutes. My meal was cold, but it was the best meal in a long, long time.

I sang opera fashion to a charming chap from India (I presume), 'Helllooooooo'. Really, really loudly. The only trouble is, once you get started you can't stop. So he's asking, 'Mr ?', 'Nooooooooo. Thiiiiiiis iiiiiiiis Mrrrrrrrs G.' Eventually he said, 'I am very much enjoying this singing Mrs G.' and I said that I had to go and added a huge soaring 'Gooooodbyyyyyyyye!' I put the phone down, turned round and there was my son peering round the door with an expression of total incredulity. 'Who the heck was that?'
I know! I'm a very sad woman! But it was a great stress buster!
The other method I use is to pick the phone up and either put it wtraight back down, or lay it down on the table and leave it for a while! (I hear you - that's just mean, they're only trying to do their job!)

properly, I registered on the nationwide do no longer call record, yet by some ability we nevertheless get calls. those days they have been after 8 pm at nighttime so i visit in a number of of situations tell them that it is too previous by using be calling my residing house and please eliminate my call/style from their calling lists. If this is throughout respectable hours i visit in a polite way tell them i'm no longer in touch and ask them to eliminate my call/style from their calling lists. I had an instructor in college that had a three or 4 year old son at residing house, so at the same time as the telemarketer might want to ask for Mr. so-and-so he might want to say "particular, carry on only a minute" and then positioned his son on the phone and he might want to jabber on and on, now and again making some sense, different situations in basic terms making noise, ultimately the telemarketer might want to dangle up. i presumed it replaced right into a attractive idea, it solves 2 issues mutually (a million) it receives rid of the telemarketer, (2) it entertains your baby for a couple of minutes. :)

You can ask them to be put on their "no call" list. By law, they must do it if you ask. There is also a national "no call" registry that you can have your name put on. It takes a while for the calls to stop after you have asked to be taken off of the call lists, but it does eventually happen. Until they stopped calling, I would tell them that they had the wrong number, or I would just start yelling "Hello!?, Hello?!" into the phone like the call had been dropped.

Just lay the handset down (not hang up) and walk away. Go back a few minutes later and they are still waffling on, not realising you have gone. Hilarious. For those who tell you you have won something, really go with it. Be very excited, tell them you will have to buy a new outfit to come and collect the prize, pretend to cry with delight etc etc. Their reaction is sure to make you double up with laughter.

I have three solutions, depending on my mood: 1. Hang up. 2. Threaten legal action for harassment. 3. This is the most fun. Let them get through their entire spiel, then say no and hang up. You don't even need to listen. Just ask for all the details and walk away. I don't know about you but I don't like people contacting me without my permission. I have no sympathy for them.

I've answered the phone asking the caller how they knew the person in question, did they have a sexual relationship with that person, their full name, DOB, height, weight, and did they know the whereabouts of the person they were calling for. I continue to ask their employee ID number, their supervisors name, then ask to speak to their supervisor. I hardly ever get to speak to a supervisor, because I get hung up on while getting personal specifics.

Best thing to do is sound interested, then tell them there is someone at the door and to hang on, then put the phone to the side, keeping the connection alive, it's their phone bill not yours, after so long they will give up and you will hear the hang up tone
