I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee; however it is a 6 cylinder. I get about 19-21 in the city and 24-26 on the highway. I would imagine a V8 would get a little less than what I experience. I love my Grand Cherokee. It has been fun to drive and very reliable. If you are getting a good deal, I would say, "Go for it!"

well, my advice would be to keep the 4 litre. it's light, powerful, dependable, and quick. i wouldn't buy another engine. i might spend the money on upgrading your current i6. once you put in another engine. it means most of your drivtrain is now incompatible (ie: tranny, transfer case.. you might have trouble with a stock front end. the dana 30 has notoriously weak u-joints). supercharging any engine will ultimatley reduce it's life, it's just a fact of life. my advice is give your 4.0 engine some pep by making some mods to it. you'll be better off in the end, with a lighter curb weight too. hope this helps

Before you try this, Check the rating of your Jeep. Then beef up your front supension, Then do your thing. Now, the others are right, check your trans. and rear axels to be sure. It will cost, but, if you do it right the first time you won"t be sorry

There's a reason you don't see many Cherokees at Daytona. You can make a Conestoga go 150mph if you want. It will be about as stable as a Cherokee at that speed.

The V8 is possible and I've seen it. But you can't really keep it cool. Your best bet would be to get your 4.0L stroked and bored. Hesco has a 4.9L same block.

sure any thing's possible.. if you put a big engine in their look at the drive train because it's probably only rated at 250hp max that means lots of broken stuff... Transmission, xfer case, differentials..

From the sounds of things I don't think you have any clue and it's way over your head! Stick to your V-6 thats more power than you need!
