Nothing. Never heard of him.
If you mean John McEnroe--******** who was what tennis needed as it was a staid old stuckup sport. Hated the headband with the 'fro. The tantrums we could have done without but his play was unreal at times and who can forget the Borg-McEnroe tiebreaker at Wimby.
But why remember? The guy is still alive and on TV 'casts now. He ain't dead yet.

Whoa ...your spelling of "McEnroe" is gruesome!
But, I remember a lot of his career, including.
His amazing epic Wimbledon matches with Borg.
His rivalries with Connors and Lendl.
His many childish tantrums.
His touch on court - the best I've ever seen, especially at net.
His afro with the headband.
His "pits of the world" remark.
His dedication to Davis Cup tennis.
His bizarre marriage to Tatum O'Neal
His intelligence, and he seemed/seems to be a fairly interesting guy off the court.
And now, he's a well-prepared, knowledgable broadcaster with a dry wit.

The best pure net player I have ever seen. He was a volleying genius. They said that the best doubles team in the world was " Johnny Mac and whoever he played with." That is not to say that he could not play singles. One of the best matches I have ever seen was Borg Mac in which Borg won his last Wimbledon. The fourth set tiebreaker went to 18-16 , Mac won it forcing a fifth set. That was the beginning of Mac and the end of Borg.

That he was a hot head. I even saw him playing a match for a charity or something and he got on the umpire saying that he acted like a six year old because he lied about the line calls. Me and my sister were laughing really hard on that one!
But still, he loved the game and didn't let his anger get the best of him. In fact...I think he was just pumped up by that.

Johnny Mac was one of the best tennis players of my time. He had a bad temper which made the crowds get into the matches. Being a lefty myself, I loved him. He had a great passion for the game and is now a great announcer.

Probably the best tennis talent I've ever seen. He could do anything with a tennis ball. Unfortunately he didn't train so hard during his time on the top otherwise he would have taken a lot more grand slams

He was a non traditional player at that time. The unique service style, the scooping forehand, the jumping volley and of course quarrying with the opponent, official, his racket, headband etc during the match and... won!

He was great in Mr. Deeds!
John McEnroe: I like the way you beat up those guys who were making fun of you. It was pretty cool.
Longfellow Deeds: Yeah I bet you know what it's like to get all riled up Johnny Mac.
John McEnroe: That I do.
