You will need a very very powerful computer with lots of ram and a extremely powerful video card. you would want to use a mac as they are very good at that kind of stuff. I would recommend the most memory the motherboard can support. Video cards i would go with a card along the lines of NVIDIA Quadro FX As for programs there are lots to chose from. Do a google search. I like blender for 3d rendering
