Head Gaskets can cost around £400. Sorry can't suggest anywhere but my volvo s70 was that price.

Depends. Someone might put a new gasket in for a few hundred, but if the head is a little warped, it would just blow again. Head planing and new gasket, maybe 1500.
14,500 for a head gasket? Somebody must have more money than sense.

I think I have heard of Golders Green being known as Volvo city. Anyway, this is a big job, engine out, head reskimmed etc. Main dealer think £1500-£2000. Small independent, £1000. Is the car worth it.
