The Bromo-caffeine bottles are very common. They were competitors of the Bromo Seltzer Company. It was a headache remedy. Orignially it was called "Broma". it was manufactured by the Keasbey & Mattison company in the 1890s.

Status: offline I found a small cobalt blue bromo seltzer bottle. It is 2 5/8" tall...it has no lid but has three small lips spaced evenly on the outside of the top of the bottle. Around the base of the bottle on the outside are the words: Bromo Seltzer Emerson Drug Co. There is a upper case M enclosed in a circle on the bottom of the bottle and the number 15 betweem the bottom edge of the bottle and the circle around the M. Can anyone tell me anything about this bottle and whether or not it is worth anything?

Bromo Seltzer is a very common bottle. It was (and still is) a medicine for a bad stomach, although when it was first established in the late 1880s, the makers promised it would cure much more. Captain Isaac E. Emerson was a druggist in Baltimore at that time. The medicine contained potassium bromide, caffeine, and acetanilid (the last ingredient can be very dangerous if too much is taken).
Your bottle is from the era 1920-1960. The three "lips" are to lock the on the twist-on cap. My wife has cobalt bottles in most of the windows of our house - it's her favorite color - and Bromo Seltzer bottles account for a good number of them.

Bromo Seltzer. It's an old medicine bottle probably from the early 1900's. I collect cobalt blue bottles and I just recently bought some off ebay for around $10 each. Maybe she should continue digging. There could be more bottles.

we used to find bottles like this in brown near my house, and they are just old medicine bottles. but yes, Keasbey & Mattison Co. is the manufacturer of Bromo-Caffeine, and I think that the company was formed around the turn of the century.
