The same reason they always portray Blondes as being dumb, overweight people as being lazy, women as being bad drivers, Black people as being good dancers, etc.
Because they are stupid, and they feed off Society's stupidity. It's a shame, don't you think?

Glasses represent a visible weakness, in this case one of eyesight. So-called "nerds," "geeks," and "dweebs" are considered weak--on the lower end of your average societal food chain. Glasses are also often ridiculed by those who don't wear them, so anyone who does gets labeled nerd/geek/dweeb almost as an automatic reflex.
Interestingly enough, contact lenses don't have the same effect.

Because people who study a lot, do suffer from eye strain and it can result in them having to wear glasses.There are many fashionable glasses out there nowadays, so I really don't know why people think someone who wears glasses is a nerd, unless of course they wear the nerdy glasses. There are also contact lenses!

because most ppl that wear glasses either look like thay are nerds or geeks and stuff..
i have been wearing glasses since i was 2 years old. i was born with a lazy eye. and it got worse. but everyone always called me a nerd and a geek but i made strait A's till i was in 6th grade than i made strait F's and stuff.

for nerds i'm guessing that because they usually read a lot and so easily lose their 20/20 vision so they eventually need eyeglasses.
