I wouldn't mind paying 1 penny per email, but to the spammers out there, it could cost some serious bucks.

Look at the JUNK MAIL that the post office sends you. Those folks spend MILLIONS to send you that crap at about 14 cents per mail, and even more for the printing. I do not think that a penny per email would make any difference. In fact, many of your friends simply would not send you email. They would call you by phone instead.

Clever idea though. I agree but either way, the internet is DOOMED because of SPAM.

Good luck

No. Collection of petty amounts costs more than it's worth.

Beyond that, who would get the money? Government (please, no)? My ISP? Your ISP? Some intermediary?

I appreciate trying to attach a significant cost to bulk e-mailing to reduce the attraction, but I'd rather that email stay "no extra cost." I think better solutions for junk mail are protocol extensions/changes that provide positive sender identification. And free use of the "delete" key. It appears the economics of spam must make it worthwhile for the spammer--if no one was buying anything, the spam would dry up as a marketing tool.

Hmm thats a really good idea to stop spammers. I wouldn't mind to pay it if spam was bad for me as it is for others. But I don't get alot of spam so i'm against spending money on sending emails.

Better yet, charge only for those who are mass mailing e-mails -- say, like 10 of greater addresses -- that way, we hit the spammers right in the pocketbook, but do not affect the office environment.

I do not want to pay for email because it is already paid for by my isp subscription and advertising.
Most spam gets filtered anyway and I do not delete spam every day but delete all of it in one go about once every one or 2 weeks. It saves time that way as you do it in one swoop.
I never read unsolicited mail of any kind.

I don't really think it would stop them and I wouldn't want to pay it.
