More specifically in elementary ed. A school recently researched required 15 classes that totaled 43 credits--seems like alot, is it?

That sounds about right. I have a secondary math BS, and my masters was 33 hours. If your undergrad is in a different area, there are probably prerequisites that have to be covered which may explain more hours.

The 43 hours is a little higher than expected - perhaps because you must take courses to make up deficiencies or prerequisites since you are changing fields.

Cheer up - at least you probably won't have to write and defend a thesis.

Seems like a very little to be able to brag for the rest of your life that you have a masters.
