Not a Learner's Permit, but a Driver's Permit.
Why?

I got my license when I was 16. Looking back on it, I think the driving age should be 18. 16 year olds often have something to prove when they're in their car. Most of the time (there are exceptions to the rule), they don't think about safety while they're in the car. They're more worried about impressing their peers. I think that the age should be raised for more mature drivers.

Men should be allowed to drive at 18. Women should have to wait until they are 21. These are only guidelines. Before licenses are issued, the following questions must be answered correctly:
1. What is the purpose of headlights?
2. What is a turn signal? When should one be used?
3. Do cell phones distract inexperienced drivers?
4. Does loud, throbbing music prevent sirens and/or horns from being heard? Does it disturb sleeping individuals in homes at 3:00 a.m. from 2 miles away?

I think the age here in Va is perfect. We can get our permits at 15 and 6 months and our licence by 16 and 3 months as long as we pass the knowlege test, sign test, vision test, and driving test. But before we take the test we have to drive 30 hours during the day and 10 at night with a licenced driver. Simple

At 18 they consider you to be an adult but they are still willing to give you a driver's license 2 years earlier. It's never made any senses to me. I think between the ages of 18 & 20 is a much better time to get one.

17. I know I had my license at 16 and I was entirely too wreckless. I had an accident almost every 6 months. They were all very minor, but nevertheless, they were all accidents. 18 seems too old. By then I think you can handle the responsibility. So, I think 17 is a happy medium.
