Eggs and rabbits are both ancient symbols of fertility. Easter is a descendant of ancient spring / rebirth / fertility festivals.

The egg represents new life as the brothers answered. I heared once that the egg is a symbol of the big stone closing Jesus' grave, which was moved away on Easter Sunday when Jesus rised from death.

Just speculation but: eggs are a symbol of new life, and everything is blooming or having babies in the springtime.

Religious connotation (perhaps?): eggs=new life, Jesus supposedly rose on Easter.

The egg represents new life (Jesus' Ressurection). You'll have to ask someone else about the bunny.
