I have had breast cancer, the doctor said double amputation, but I chose to get only a lumpectomy instead, after checking with other doctors. It was early stages, I did not want the other surgery. That was in 1991, and the cancer is gone. The second doctor said that the doctors here in the US were knife hungry. I took Tamoxifen for 5 yrs, and the second surgeon took it out to clearer margins, thought the first surgeon seeded it. You just have to check over and over again to see what is the right decision. I did not want to lose my femininity, but you can get re-built. The man does not know any different however, but you will know the diff. Anyway, no, no one wants that and the husbands sometimes cannot take it and leave. It has happened many times. It is really sad. Would you like your penis cut off??

It would definitely be horrible and I understand why some women might hesitate. Our breasts are not just any body part, they are the body parts that defines us as women, that makes us women (that and the other parts). In addition, being real here, they are a major point of sexual attraction. Whether barely there, pleasantly plump or voloptuous, dudes dig 'em. So it's not like losing a finger, or a toe, an arm, or a leg, it's losing a piece of your womanhood, your femininity, and not every woman can deal well with that. And I don't care whether saline or silicone, fake boobs are just that...fake, nothing can truly replace the real thing.
That being said though, cancer is not cool by any means and if faced with it (even though I speak it into the universe all the time, I'm not getting it), I'd do whatever was necessary to live. This life may not be much with all the mess going on in the world, but this life is all I know and I'd like to stay here for as long as possible, thank you. Even if I'm 110 and one heck of a patch job.

I honestly don't know how I personally would feel. It's one of those things. I could say I'll be fine with it- what will happen will happen and it's meant to. That's how I feel about life. However as life goes on, values change, feelings change. I do know a lady who has recently suffered breast cancer and had to have one off. She felt awful at first but then decided to make the best of it and had implants as soon as possible afterwards. I suppose it's each to their own as to how one will feel. I think I would prefer to lose a brest that you can get replaced than an arm or leg that you learn to be dependant on.

I love my breasts, although they are bigger than I'd choose if I'd gone to "Breasts R Us" and selected them myself. Even though gravity pulls them ever southwards, I'd hate to lose them, but if it was a choice between breasts or life - for goodness sake man - there can't be any woman who would choose the breasts ?
What is really revealing is the man who would rather kill his doctor and go on to die - presumably in prison for the murder - of prostate cancer. How insecure can you get ? Manhood is so much more than a set of genitals, womanhood is more than a pair of mammary glands.

I wouldn't care if I lost both. I have been a big size all my life and it would be such a relief to get rid of them. But there are women out there who feel that having breast is a very important part of being a women. And I can completely understand where there coming from. They just don't feel like a women anymore and I feel for them.

To compare tampering with jewellery and having a breast removed is really strange. Surely you can't be serious?
If I had breast cancer and a mastectomy were necessary, then I'd go ahead without a doubt.

this is really difficult to put into words!
my heart goes out to all the women who have suffered and i truely hope that i never know the pain of suffering that they have been through.
personally, i know that i would rather have the mastactomy and live than keep my breasts and die!
my breasts do not define me as a woman and loosing them would upset me but it wouldnt be the end of the world.
i would rather live and watch my children grow up xx

My breast really are my pride and joy literally, they get noticed before me,and if i were to lose one I would be devastated but realistically my life would have to come first so i would have it removed but i would also have reconstruction no matter what the cost.

I seriously hope I never have to find out! My prayers to all you ladies out there that are survivers & I hope not to offend any of you but for me, I think it would be absolutely devastating!! I don't concider myself a vain person by any means but to loose a part of yourself, to wake up every morning to realize it wasn't a nightmare..... I can't even imagine....
