Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary exploration of the stituation of women, both past and present. Theoretical analyses, research, and literary sources are used to broaden understanding of the determinants of women's experiences.

The courses usually provide a critical introduction to conditions and circumstances that affect the lives of women. Investigated through theoretical analysis, research, history, and literary sources with such information as: theoretical analysis, research, history, and literary sources will be: the extent to which gender and its interesection(s) with race, ethnicity, sexuality, social class, and/or disability.

How this affects access to opportunity, power and resources; the impact of socialization, ideology, and institutions (e.g. media, medical, economic, political, legal, religious), on the lives of women; and the work done by women's groups and movements, historically and now, to end violence and discrimination against women and to bring about meaningfuly social change...

This is what Women's Studies is about. :-) Hope that helps those who don't understand. I believe this should be posted on the door of "Women's Studies" :p A lot of the questions that are usually asked here, instead, tend to be geered towards "singles and dating". I wonder if they ask such questions here, they actually think "Women's studies" is about sexuality, or homosexuality... Gah! I don't know either.

I have not been to uni regardless that I plan to do a little research at some point. I see whatever humorous right here, regardless that. Some of the men and women who sound so much "Expert" have hyperlinks and arguments to Mens Rights Groups which might be lovely severe they usually all say they have got the Real Definition of Feminism! Do those men and women additionally coach at uni? If I enrol in a Gender Studies elegance and get one among them for a train I suppose they might fail me only for being feminine.

You are right...I thought women's studies was about equality and education...but so many chicks use it as male bashing...and so many guys use it to talk about hot lesbians. Guess it goes to show that there are still sexist people out there!

Why not stop trying to control people? Isn't 'Women's Studies' supposed to be about social liberation? Then let them ask what they will!!

i don't understand why there are "women's studies" y'all realized you yourselves are such perplex creatures that you deserve your own "study" (i am not trying to be a jackass or a macho pig) to me it sounds arrogant. you want women's right and millions of you run away from home become strippers, single mothers, rape victims of some sort, and/or sadly a murder case. us men realize that you are fascinating creatures, why the whole hype? what is "women's rights"? or women's studies?
