Where I live the community is advised when a sex offender is released into the community it the police feel he/she may be a danger to others. There are 2 halway houses where I live. At one sex offenders are not allowed. At the other it is a co-ed house with both male and female offenders. Much was done to try and keep this second halfway house out of the city but after much political wrangling it passed. Many parents are concerned as it is less than 1/2 mile from two low schools. Sounds like you made a bad choice 12 years ago and that it has come back to bit you again even though you have served your disposition. Regardless this choice you made when you were young will remain with you throughout the rest of your life whether your on probation/parole or not. And it's not just the government that is saying that you may need to work but it is what the taxpayers have said to the government, that they want and need to be informed of sexual preditors (past or current) that are in their community.

I am not an attorney (and neither are most of the people that will answer your question), so I cannot give a legal opinion on your situation.

However, I have two pieces of advice for you.

1) Don't break the law and you won't have to suffer the consequences.

2) Learn how to type clear, concise and well written statements. You will be amazed at how much more positively people will respond to you if you don't come off as an uneducated, rambling idiot.

Other than that, good luck in life and obey the law.

well that sucks. if you've done your time and are now being harassed or put in jail for no reason...why do you think they wont leave you alone...there has to be a reason. i didn't think they could add more time unless you did something to violate probation or violate a part of the order. someone close to me was in jail for having sex with a minor. so unless you violated probation, or a restraining order or any thing else they had said, or commited another crime i don't think they can. but i'm not a lawyer so who knows. doesn't seem like you should have to move

then move, it might be for the best. people are very one dimensional when it comes to statutory rape. if you raped or molested a child that would be a different situation. this person was your age, i don't know all of the details( did you force her? etc.) but I've had a couple guy friends go to jail over slutty little girls, who after banging the whole football team cry rape when they are labeled a slut. when both parties are under age different laws should convene. take a look at some of the questions the "innocent" girls are posting here. i don't condone rape, but i also have a different opinion when it comes to 2 horny minors. good luck.

It's crazy how so many people seem to ALWAYS group people into category's without all of the facts . Most time it happens because of FEAR . I happen to believe that we all have rights and need to be judged only by those who know what they are talking about . I would keep trying to get someone to listen to you , and help .
You were a child and this should be taken into consideration . Also sometimes people want to make an example of someone , and this is totally unfair .
No matter what happens , know in your heart that the final judgment is up to God .

There are a lot of problems with the legal system here concerning "sex offenders". I have heard of some guy who was later proven innocent of the charges, but he remained marked and has paid a dear price. Unfortunately, when you become marked as a sex offender, the authorities keep you on their lists. I feel for you because you made the mistake early in life. Hang in there and do the best you can.

agreed that you did your time:
disagree: you did some thing against the law, down right nasty and WRONG> wether you were 16 or not, you made that choice. State can do as they please. file a complaint... but be carfeul i would think that they would publicize it. In there eyes (gov) sex offenders have no rights, they lost them when they committed the crime. yes you may have learned your lesson, but as far as the public goes.. you are a sex offender and this is there way of protecting there family and friends.
