everything on my com. screen?

is too big and the colors are all messed up...my com won't let me adjust anything, and after i restart it a thing at the bottom says your color thing is too low or something like that...anyone know what this is or how to fix it??

start->settings->control panel->display->settings.
play around with the resolution and the Color quality.
