Just wondering, if the Democrats do not retake the House or Senate, what is their next move. Please, I am asking seriously. I believe that if the Democrats do not at least retake the House, they are in real danger of being marginalized at best, and becoming a non-factor in future elections at worst. I'm a Republican, but I don't think a severely weakened Democratic party in the nations best interest.

I didn't intend for this to be a partisan question. As far as the Dem's losing in Nov. and having excellent prospects for "08, I don't buy it. With all the negative things happening for the Republicans, if the Dems can't win this time... I fear it may be over for them. I know the Dems don't want my advice, but they need to marginalize the far left socialists in their party and concentrate on the centrists. Americans don't want gay marriage, open borders, legalized drugs and bigger government. The Dems have some good ideas, but the far left shouts even their own party down. I seriously fear for our country.

They will spend the next two years doing everything they can to make the Republicans who remain in charge look like incompetents in the hopes of winning next time.

Which is unfortunate. We have such horrible problems in our country that it would be preferable to have both sides working together to solve them.

But as long as the GOP continues their tactics of marginalizing the Democrats and the Democrats continue their tactics of demonizing the GOP, we're never going to have bipartisan anything.

Well, the Democrats never admit defeat so even if they fail to retake either house, someone will call it a "clear victory for the Democratic party". However, behind the scenes, I believe Howard Dean would be forced out before the new Congress was sworn in. He would likely be replaced by a Clinton operative who would begin triangulating strategies for Hilary in 2008.

There should always be an opposition, when the democrats held all the power I don't think that they abused it like the repuglicans have. My view is continue to make noise and use the media to point out what is going on. Like the presidents signing statements and the recently passed and signed legislation to suspend Habaias Corpus. This is a very dangerous piece of legislation. Hopefully they will take one of the houses in order to restore checks and balance to the government.

the prospect of the Democrats taking the U.S. Senate is narrow; despite the fact that if, the probabilities of taking the domicile are lots greater effective and that's their approach. Shall I checklist the variety of matters and rules that have average individuals (no longer liberal individuals) nerve-racking for a metamorphosis? a million. a one party government (Republicans in the two homes rubber stamping Bush rules) 2. a want by way of some to make certain Bush investigated for going into Iraq on a faux pretense, its loss of a reaction to the Katrina disaster, and its foot dragging on techniques by way of the 9/11 fee. (The GOP has bottled up those demands investigations or has dragged its feet.) 3. corruption by way of the former domicile Speaker, Tom postpone, and the ok highway project, and continued corruption by way of his proteges. 4. the conflict in Iraq 5. a want for substitute. it extremely is been 12 years. of direction, if the Democrats re-take the domicile, they might lose it in a dozen years, merely via fact the Republicans seem to this twelve months. the subject is the fake options represented by way of a 2 party government. there is no longer adequate selection and due to campaign money, the two events act further whilst it is composed of adopting coverage (he who has the main campaign contributions gets the get entry to; the little guy gets close out.) another factor: merely as you probably do no longer help each Republican and their "conservative nonsense", i do no longer help each Democrat and a few ot their "liberal nonsense." once you throw around words which includes "liberal nonsense" in spite of the undeniable fact that, you betray your ideological predilections, extremely than your willingness to locate recommendations to issues that flow party lines.

When Clinton was president, the repuklicans filed subpoenas impeached Clinton and spent way too much time being partisian. Hopefully, if the Dem. get power in congress, they won't spend as much time on the negative as the rep. did while Clinton was in office.

Maybe they will spend their time to help middle class America. Tax the rich that can afford it and stop giving the big corporations the gravy train.

If Democrats don't win the house, they will plan for the 08 election -- they will have excellent prospects then.

I don't see how they can.

With the Plutocrat majority that is in place. Changing a few seats from one side to the other will do nothing to change control of the House.

Go big Red Go

This country leans one way one year and a different direction the next. They will come out of it. The thing we need is a few more parties.

They still don't have an agenda. They will still cry whine b*tch and moan, name call. They don't have a leader (Kerry or Dole ? ). Of course they will challenge most results in court.
If they get there sh*t together and come up with workable solutions they would have a chance.
