Don't get that ratcheting wrench thing from sears!
It's terrible, and that's coming from a technician.I've got thousands of dollars worth of tools and that one is the worst.
There are pocket digital rolodex's that are great to carry around and very handy with number's,email's,appointments and more that you would need. You can usually find them around 20$ and it would be great for younger guy's or people on the go.
I'm easy,as most guy's are.My wife could give me something I already have and I figure well,if I break one I have an extra..
Toolbox's are a great gift, get a good sturdy metal one for a great price. It is something that will be kept for a long time and if good quality will be passed on.

It's around $20, but I've seen this new adjustable ratcheting wrench. They have it at Lowe's. You spin a wheel and the jaws widen and narrow very easily.
One other thing I've seen. There's a flashlight that uses LED lights. The light doesn't need batteries. All you have to do is shake it. And since the lights are LEDs, the bulbs will never go bad. They are really great to have around when the power goes out. Don't have to worry about bad batteries or bad light bulb in the flashlight. I believe they have them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and a couple other stores. It's also around $20.
