Yes I saw it on Fox news. He was convicted of manslaughter I think. They should confine him to his house with one of those ankle monitors. He won't be around much longer, why send him to prison and cost us $30 K/year?

I read that as well. Did they ever determine exactally why this guy wrecked, i think it was abrake problem or he fell asleep at the wheel - either way if it was 3 yrs ago he was still 86 yrs old then, i dont think he should have had a valid lisence at that age - thats a little old to be out just cruisin' around, his family should be held responsible for his actions, didnt they care how he lived? I know my grandfather would noot have to get out and do things alone at that age. I'm quite sure this old guy didnt mean to hurt anyone and i hate that it happened because you cant bring innocent people back to life, but jail is no place for this guy to have to die in,if they are determined to stick it to him on manslaughter charges they should have convicted him for murder and sentenced him to death, because that is exactually what they have done this way, he cannot live in jail, not to mention the burden on taxpayers to keep him locked up. He is not a threat to anyone as long as he stays from behind the wheel...the only word that comes to mind is "appeal". My prayers go out to the familys of the people that were lost that day, and to his family as well, in retrospect i bet they are feeling bad because they should have been there for him sooner and this all could have maybe been avoided..Take care of your family as the get old, it all of our responsibilties

he got to live for 89 years and 10 people didnt if he wished to live out his days as a free man he should have not ended the days of the other free people. young or old, if you burn your *** , you gotta sit on the blister if you can arrest 12 year olds you can arrest an 89 year old, maybe the prison hospital can do something for his eyes

I'm not really sure. I suppose age shouldn't be a part of it. I would not object to house arrest with ankle bracelet and giving up his car and DL; some type of settlement to victims families. Hope he had some insurance, but for this type of accident, you can never have enough.
