They have rules for ties... Not sure what the rule is on US Senate but for offices like mayor, each city has it's own rules for ties....

I remember a few years back reading about a city whose mayoral race ended in a tie and they had to break the tie with an arm wrestling match according to the town's laws....

I'm not sure they'd have rules for that since it's impossible. I mean the Senator would surely vote for himself, right? That's one vote.

there would be a new vote...but that is nearly theoretically impossible.
