I am Spanish/American and am sick of the comparisons. We are nothing alike to Mexicans, Guatemalans, or anything. If we are similar to anyone its Portuguese or French. I'm going to Spain in a few days and just was wondering before I go.

Spaniards have white skin and most have blue eyes. The dialect is different too. Blah!

Most people are just ignorant. They generalize because both speak Spanish.
I agree with revadef, and there are Mexicans with blue eyes too!
And yea all the Spaniards I know are really similar to the Portuguese and French....please! (Or maybe you think the Spanish dialect from Spanish is more similar to Portuguese or French, instead of Spanish from other countries?) Maybe you can personally identify yourself with them but by saying that then you're just generalizing as well.
Just be happy with who you are and if people mistaken you for another ethnicity then just politely correct them and that's it. If you live in the US then that's something you're always going to have to deal with. If you're that tired of it maybe you would be happier living someplace where they won't mistaken you so much for being Mexican. Just a suggestion.

WHO TOLD YOU MOST SPANIARDS HAVE BLUE EYES? They have also experienced massive immigration and the resulting mixes in their looks, just like some of the people in Latin American countries. If you really pay attention you can distinguish the mixes that one person carry within the family tree almost anywhere in the world. We Mexicans are also mistaken by Turkish in India or China.

Oh my gosh, I know EXACTLY what you mean! It bothers the hell outta me, really. I'm not spanish or mexican or anything, but it still annoys me, like a lot. I try and notice the difference, because there is a BIG difference, and I think it's just rude when people classify all spanish persons as mexican. They don't even say it in a nice way, like being mexican is degrading. EGH. My boyfriend refers to spanish as mexican language (he isn't racist, I promise :) and I always correct him on it.

because the spanish from spain are sorta the same because they came from that country people from spain descended down to North American so they are spanish decent. Just like african americans are clearly differnt from dark dark africans but they still are connected

Most of us know that. The Demorats preferr to lump you all together because it hurts their little brains to try to understand that there are differences. I would appologize for them, but being "politically correct" makes me ill. All it means is that you are always wrong and HAVING to applogize. YOU know who you are.
