The minimum requirements for the game are documented as quite modest, I believe they are misleading. Our family machine has 512 MB of RDRAM, and we're having trouble running it. The upgrade to 1 GB of RDRAM is very expensive, we may have to replace the computer to play the game.

You should first, check the CD to make sure its clean. If its clean, make sure your computer has at least the minimum specs to play the game, if you have a really large hard-drive you can try this method.

Create a folder called sims2pets1 and insert the first CD and copy the entire CD to that folder on your computer, then create another folder called sims2pets2 and insert the second CD and copy that to the second folder, then go into the first folder and run setup, when it asks for CD2 browse for the sims2pets2 folder and it should continue to install normally, once its finished installing you can delete those folders and use the main CD to run the game from as normal.
