What do you think of the Az. schools? for high school and elementry?

Anyone from Arizona can you tell me the names of some good highschools and elementry schools and what area they are in? Thanks much appreciated! :)

It can really vary, even within districts. Unfortunately, AZ public education is some of the worst in the nation. The best districts in general are Kyrene (Ahwatukee) and Scottsdale. Deer Valley has some good ones as well. Problem is these areas are also some of the most expensive in which to live but AZ does have an open enrollment policy so you can try to enroll there even if you do not live in the district. If space is available, you will be accepted but will have to provide your own transport. You can check some of the public charter schools as well which often hold themselves to a higher standard. Horizon Community Learning Center in southeast Phoenix is an excellent school. They have grades Kindergarten through 12th grade - yes, in the same school. They have separate wings for elementary, middle and high school. Horizon is a charter school, so they don't have as much funding as the public schools, which limits the activities they can offer. But the teachers are great, they use a lot of technology, and they set high standards for the students. There is a lot of parental involvement at Horizon and great teacher/parent communication. My oldest child has been at Horizon since Kindergarten and she is now in 10th grade. You can check out the school web site linked below.

I live on the west side. When I did a lot of research, I realized my son will only go to Peoria School District or Deer Valley School District schools. We ended up moving to a neighborhood in a Peoria School District. My son will actually attend the high school I attended a very long time ago.
