Starange but had a conversation with my provider about that a couple of hours ago ....... apparently a new hub / modem takes time about 5 n- 10 days to properly adjust to the gain on the line so this is most probably normal. Just give it chance to adjust ! failing that call the manufacturer. have fun d

It does take 10 days to 'settle in', although I can't see why.
Hubs (like all routers) slow down overtime due to electromagnetic interference. They should also be turned off from time to time.
Another thing that you can do to speed up a slow connection is disconnect all the cables from the hub & leave it without power for 30 seconds or so. Then plug cables back in, turn on PC & turn on hub. This will always increase the speed. Also keep the hub at least 1 foot away from ANY electrical fittings (light switches, sockets, PCs, printers) in order to cut down the electromag interferrence.

Because BT are absolute crap! If I had choice with line rental would change in minute. The engineers are good but the customer service support and everyone else in the entire company are incompetent! Go for Tiscali or something like it. If you want a hand to complain when it doesn't work after that period email me.
