when it come to the music (guitar, drumming, bass) rock is obviously superior. compare metallica's music to snoop dogg. rap mostly emphisist on lyrics. lyrics which nowadays are all about gangs, drugs, b i t c h e s and murder. if i had to listen to rap i would hear the rap from '95 or earlier.

It's all opinion.
Personally, I like rock better than rap. Every piece of rap I've ever heard that wasn't a cover (Sweet *twitch* Home Alabama *twitchtwitch*), excluding the sucky educational ones, has been about lust, money, or drugs. Usually a combonation of two, often of all three. I have heard many subject matters in rock, including the above.
Depression (screamo emo can give you a lot of these)
Excitement (Can't think of one right now)
Trashing Neil Young (Sweet Home Alabama- Lynyrd Skynyrd :D)
Feeling alone (Hey You- Pink Floyd)
That sweet, not all sex love (Echoes, Pink Floyd)
Being dumped (Dy'er Maker (The Drunk Sheep), Led Zepplin)
A girl in the woods you hallucinated after a heavy dose of LSD (See Emily Play)
Dumping Someone (Already Gone- The Eagles)
Or just a random idea! (Hotel California- The Eagles; The Walrus- The Beatles; The Gnome- Pink Floyd)
As you can see, I listen to mostly classic rock (and no, I am not old- just turned 14!), and I can find many ideas in it. Of course, a lot of songs are about love, but, from casual observation of screaming cars at the gas station, most songs in rap that involve love involve the lower half of a girl's body; most songs in rock just say I need you "every single day of my life" (Got to Get You Into My Life [actually, not too sure about the title]- The Beatles").
Also, if you have a musical mind, listen to the beat of ten rap songs. It's all 4/4, upbeat on the 2's and 4's. (Not sure of the technical term, but I call this "jazz beat") A lot of rock songs are "classical" style, 4/4, upbeat on the 1's and 3's, but some of it has really weird time signatures. Listen to Pink Floyd's Echoes or Time for an example of this.
Different subjects, different time signature. Oh, and one more thing... sometimes, rap songs "borrow" beats from rock songs. A prominent example is Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby. Have you ever wondered about the da da da da da dada beat? Now listen to Queen's Under Pressure. Familiar, no?
Another thing... rap artists are almost always black, and the white ones are considered insignificant. In rock, there are mostly white people, but probably THE most influential rock star- so much so that he himself is known more than his band- is Jimi Hendrix of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He is one of the legends; a star that will always live on. Have you ever heard Hey Joe? Maybe Purple Haze? He is the man behind these songs. The left handed guitarist who learned to play upside down. He is awesome.
Staying on the race matter, how many songs have you heard in rock degrading other races?
Go on, think.
Some more.
Now, I don't want to make your brain hurt, so go ahead and stop thinking. How many have you thought of? Five, tops.
Do that to rap.
Okay, now stop. The number is possibly too high to count.
One more thing. What instrumental properties seperate rap song A from rap song B? None! All of it is done on the computer or with a keyboard and drums. In rock, it is mostly voice first, then guitars, then bass, keyboard, and drums in importance. However, sound effects run rampant also; I'll use my favorite band once again for this one. Borrow Dark Side of the Moon from someone (a neighbor or friend of yours is bound to have it) and listen to it. In just the first minute, you hear clocks, a woman singing with no words, cash machines, and people talking. Throughout the album, sound effects are used liberally, and one song takes a departure from traditional rock entirely! Something blasphemous to Chamillionare or Fifty Cent!
So, let's review. Subject matter, diversity in performers, time signature, sound effects, instruments, and diversity in music. That is what makes rock more original than rap.
