it is a normal stage,it's a good predictor that she will enjoy exploring the environment ,the nature later on...may be you'll looking at someone who will be a good observer,an analyst who will grow to be for the good of all

Sounds normal to me- my daughter just turned 10 months and does the same thing--- she's very social and likes to engage people around her but does not like when they get real close to her face (she will quickly turn away)-- when she was younger she also did not like being held in a craddle style lying down- she would often start fussing immediately; she wanted to be held facing out or over the shoulder so she could see everything--
she's a very curious baby and I think she just doesn't want to miss anything!

You know, my 5 month old is like that too. If this is a realtively new thing, its probably just cuz you're not #1 on her list right now...there's plenty of other things she's discovered that she can get into.
If this continues, however, past age 1-2 yrs then you may need to get a doctor's opinion. This, in combination with many other signs, is an indication of autism in toddlers. But, I think, nothing to worry about right now. :-)

She's just a curious baby and very observant. My 4 month old is the same way unless I make funny noises or start singing then he will look at me and laugh.

Take her to the doctor. This could be a sign that she is far sighted. I am the same way - as I can't focus on objects very close, so I pull away in an attempt to focus.

Don't worry yourself. Lots of babies don't make eye contact with their parents,or someone they spend a lot of time with. They know you're there for them, and just want to see what else there is for them out there. As you say, your daughter is happy and well-developed, so she's just using her little inquiring mind.

Don't fret, ALL babies do this, when they are on the ground they can't see anything unless it is right in front of them, so of course they are going to want to look around. She sees you all the time, this is a chance for her to see ever thing else. Perfectly normal.

she is probably just wanting to look around at her surroundings im pretty sure it is normal mine wont really have close eye contact with me either if we do its like for a second or too. Im sure once she learns her suroundings or gets older it will change.

Yeah, my baby cousin does that too. He's 8 months and we're not very worried about it. I'm assuming it's a stage. I wouldn't worry.
