I dont really want a typical thriller or mystery either though those are more brainy . .something kind of like 'Pi' or 'The Butterfly Effect'

Anything by Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini or Ingmar Bergman should get you thinking. If you want really unusual, try films by Luis Bunuel. Alfred Hitchcock has quite a few good ones in his repetoire.

I adored the movie "Playing by Heart" . It is an independant film that had actors and actresses like Jon Stewart, Sean Connery, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Phillipe, Gillian Anderson, and more. It is a little known jewel at your local video store and one of the greatest films I've ever seen.
Music from Another Room (It's a little known Jude Law film that is wonderful.)
Reality Bites (If you didn't see this one a few years back, you truly missed out. Shallow on the surface but with some really depth to it and some indie flavor.)
The Breakfast Club (An oldie but goodie)
By the way , I ADORED the Butterfly Effect. I hear they came out with a Part II and it was lame...

Here's a list...memento, suicide kings, murder on the orient express, El Sid, I heart Huckabees (I don't believe the philosophy behind the movie, it was just neat) Somewhere in Time, and Clockwork Orange (lots of violent scenes which is kind of the point of the movie) That should get you started. Tell me what you think of them will you?
