I had a miscarriage about four years ago and had to have a dnc i went back to to the doctor for my check up after the dnc adn they saud every thing was healing good. i go every year for my pap and they say every thing looks fine i was just wondering if they can tell by doing the pap if i can still get pregnant.

No they can't tell by that, I have had several miscarriages and D&C's and I still can get pregnant. Are you having trouble?

Why wouldn't you be able to get pregnant? A dnc is done to clean out your uterus of all the stuff left over from your pregnancy. It's not to prevent you from getting pregnant. It does at times remove scar tissue, which could make it more difficult for the zygote to stick to the inner lining of your uterus, but it doesn't always. I wouldn't worry, unless you've had many dnc's which are also given after abortion.

A pap smear tests ony for cervical cancer. Nothing else.
If you have been trying to get pregnant for more than one year, you should schedule an appt. with an OB-GYN to assess your fertility, and your husband should also get tested as well. They can check his sperm count and sperm motility, etc.
You may also need to see a fertility specialist, depending on what your regular OB-GYN finds.
A D&C would not make you infertile, but it is possible there is something else going on with you or your husband.

I don't see why you couldn't. Just because you've had a miscarriage and a dnc, doesn't mean you're not able to concieve. When the dr does a pap he's only looking for the virus and checking for cysts, etc. He's not looking to see if you're able to concieve or not. If you have concerns, you should talk to him about it. No, but a friend mine also had a D&C and she's had 3 beautiful girls since then - you should be A-Ok

They can not tell from a pap if you can conceive. You will need to go to a fertility doctor that specializes in this.

No they can not tell my a pap smear if you can conceive or not.
Have you been trying since the miscarriage? If so then speak to your OB.
