I know there's absentee ballots, but I was under the impression that that was if you were out of the country. Is that what you do when you're out of state, too? And if so, how do I go about voting in this fashion?

That is different from state to state. Usually if you are away for a longer period of time you aren't allowed to vote. Otherwise you can usually register to vote via mail. Ask at your local office, where you register.

Yes you can vote with a absentee ballot when out of the state. Since I do not know which state you are orginally from it is hard tos ay what you would ned to do in order to get the absentee ballot. I know that Maryland no longer requires proof of being out of state or country in order to use a absentee ballot.

I would suggest looking up your state's guidlines regarding voting and absentee ballots.

Contact your local elections office. They can be found on the net. Each county has different rules. I'm in Calif and my county has until Oct 31 to submit a request for an absentee ballot. So it's not too late. And you can be home and still use the absentee ballot. It refers to being away from the polls, not out of the country.

You need to contact your State's Board of Election before the deadline of October 31st, I believe and request an absentee ballot. I think you also need to have it in by the 31st as well, it depends on your state. Call today, so they can put the necessary forms in the mail to you ASAP. Remember every vote counts, so don't wait too long in resolving this issue. Your voice needs to be heard. Hope this is helpful.

Absentee ballots are for your situation, but it may be too late.
The laws vary from state to state as to how long in advance you must apply for one. Here, in Pennsylvania, there would be a county board of elections that would be able to answer your question, but that will depend on your state.
