My suggestion is to be glad he doesn't want one. Not all kids like pacifiers. This way you don't have to run to the store late at night because someone dropped it in the toilet and when he turns 2 you don't have to worry about how you are going to get him to give it up. Just try rocking him or walking with him when he's fussy.

Some babies just don't like them. My son used one with no problems, but my daughter would have no part of it. Try using other methods of soothing such as bouncing, singing, swaying. Soon he'll grow out of the fussy stage and you'll be the envy of other mothers whose children won't give up their pacifiers!

Don't force it. It's probably better not to start as I see too many toddlers with those things sticking out of their mouth. You're supposed to take it away by 3 months anyways, so why start?? It will mess up his teeth (even before they come out). It will be easier in the long run.

My 1st and 3rd babies hated pacifiers. It was frustrating then, but after a couple of months, I realized I was really glad they never took one. My 4th (and last) baby is 16 months old now and is completely addicted to hers, and I'm starting to stress about taking it away from her. My 2nd baby took one occasionally, but it had to be a specific one from the hospital. I'm sorry, I can't remember the brand, not nuk or mam. It's green, one piece. Anyway, it's smaller than the others. So just try different kinds if you really want him to take one, and try the smaller ones. But it really isn't a bad thing if he doesn't take one. You won't have to wean him off of it, and he won't be dependent on one to go to sleep, his teeth won't grow in funny, and he won't try to talk with one in his mouth. (My baby does that and it drives me crazy!!!)
Good luck with your new little one!

Don't force it. There were MANY times I wished that my son would have taken a pacifier, but he refused. He is now 2 years-old and glad I don't have to deal with tantrums in trying to get him to give it up.

Most babies that I know where pacifier relunctant really took to the binky brand pacifier that can be found at walmart or krogers.
Try it, they can hold it in their little mouths better than the ortho pacifiers that most babies do not care for. It is a good one I swear by them.

are you breast feeding, sometimes breast fed baby's want the boob as a pacifier or is he hungry, i have a 3 month old preemie. even he eats alot. he eats every two to three hours when i pump it out and give him a bottle, and when i breast feed he eats every hour to two hours its on demand, if he will take a bottle or breast then feed him till hes full, when a baby's full hell fall asleep or move away, try placing your hand on his chin and face for a little bit press down gently it will make him feel comfort he will think your close to him , then when he falls asleep , slowly remove your hand, do it so slow, and he will still feel your hand there, try it on yourself and you ll still feel your hand on your face. good luck.

He might not like the brand of pacifier you are trying.
Try the NUK brand, or try putting a little breastmilk or formula on it first
My kids love their binks, so not much experiance there!

He probably doesn't care for them. Some babies will take them and some won't. I wish my daughter was like your son. She would gnaw my head off if I lost her paci.
