This is an example of what is called a "running gag." They are taking a funny skit and making different variations of it on every show. It's funny to watch, but also makes you feel sorry for Kenny. It also keeps you wondering "how is Kenny going to die today?" That is why they do it.

Let me see. The world has seen scenes of it (for the countries having South Park, that is). Do you know that Kenny died twice in the 1997 Halloween episode and did not die during the 1997 Christms episode (when Mr. Hankee made his first ever appearance)? Because I watched reruns of it on cable (and recorded it way back, then re-formatted to DVD in 2004)

in the newer seasons they usally don't kill kenny off anymore i mean 10 years is a long time for one joke..
