I'm not saying there isn't any, but why do YOU have a pet?

Companionship, mine came in handy after my wife died. The little bugger was just so worried about me, and she never left myside.

i have pet's to keep me company, as companion's , to keep the loneliness away . they seem to know when i am depressed and will always cheer me up .they are happy to see me when i come home from work , and love to go places with me . and they are just nice to have around . i once had a one eyed cat that woke me up when the furnace malfunctioned . if it hadn't been for tinny waking me up . my two kids and i would poss ably died that cold winter night . each pet has their own personality and they are loyal. they don't care how many mistakes you have made or the stupid thing you did . they love you regardless what others think of you . why do you have pet's ? i would rather be around animal's that most people . they are less judge mental than people .

Companionship, love, fun with a friend, comfort, to lower my blood pressure after a stressful day at work, to give an animal a good home and because I just like having them around!

I have 2 cats and one dog, although I foster dogs for a dog rescue as well, so my home is never without excitement!

All of my pets are rescues. My question would be why do people BUY pets (of course, you can't really rescue a goldfish unless it's about to be used for bait so I guess I'm talking about dogs and cats).
I have mine for companionship, relaxation, comfort, amusement/comedy, small non-electric heaters in the winter.

The reason I have my pets is because I rescued them from the street, I couldn't leave them there, sick and dying. But what I get in return, is unconditional love, tenderness, funny moments, company while I am home alone, and a soft purring thing in my arms at night. I really can't feel relaxed without them anymore.

Where do I begin? To tell you how much we enjoy our minidoxie HoneyBun, or her other nickname is HoneyHoover, if you are famliar with the household vacuum cleaner........anyway, having lost our other dog,Fluffy three summers ago, to continuing serious health problems, etc. we waited for a time, before we were ready to let animal furball into our home.........Honey is not in any way a replacement to our home, but an addition to it..........her funny personality, and warmth and unconditional love that we have for her and her for us.......its just that at this time of our lives we need some pet to enjoy, to spoil and to talk too, and she enjoys going with us on our trips to the Tenn. mountains. she is quite content to sleep in her car carrier for most of the long trip............she is easy maintenance, she will listen to us, and then merrily go and do as she pleases!!!!, she is very protective but when introduced to new friends she accepts them pretty easily, she shares our home now with my elderly father and his also aged cat, to see them interact with each other is hilarious...........thats what pets are for, as my dad says.........love them, spoil them, and enjoy them as long as we can........... The .joy of pets, if you dont have one, may I suggest a small easy care dog for a small space? Just make sure you have the time and the funds to enjoy one.......or maybe two?

My cat is functional livestock, it whacks rodents.
The chickens give eggs & whack insects.
The cow & sheep funtion as 4 legged lawn mowers.
They all live outdoors NOT in.
They get classified as pets because I supplement thier diet with grains, except cat which gets tuna.

Stress relief. Companionship.....some people are lonely and thats all they get. Pets won't let you down like friends, they don't talk back, they won't sleep with your lover and they are easy to make dinner for, and they are very loyal.
