Your question is not clear. If you bought a used car, the terms and conditions of any warranty would have been clearly spelled out. Once the warranty is expired, either from time or mileage, any cost of repair is your responsibility.

I assume that the car ran well when you bought it? If something went wrong with it after you have been driving the car, there is no way that the dealer could have known. Did you check the oil level when you had the car? Has any service been done to the car prior to the motor developing a noise?

$3000 is a lot for a motor job, but it will depend on if you are putting in a used motor, a rebuilt one, or a new one, and the make and model of the vehicle. Shop around for a lower cost repair. The dealer may be able to help you find a good shop, but you will have to pay the cost!

You Can Complain But the dealer will be reluctant to do anything most people are aware of the phrases Buyer-Beware and as is. How ever there are Lemon Laws that protect the cosumer, you can be forcefull with the dealer, first a car has to be considered Road Worthy to be sold by a dealer, Second if you can prove that the car had this problem the whole time and the dealer di something to hide or mask this problem it could be considered fraud by deception, threaten to contact the local department of consumer affairs, as well as the better business bureu, you cna post your expierence with his dealership on the web ( make sure nothing but the facts of your expierence is written, do not write your oppinion this protects you from any slander/libel suits, make a copy of the we page and give to him, file papers to take him to court, and follow through , call your local news agency to see if they will try to help you, most car dealers beleive they will never be challenged in a court so when they see and beleive that you will make their life miserable they usually will come back down to earth and try to make things right, now they will not give you a refund but possibly put you in a better car the bottom line is you both will have to meet in the middle.... Hope this helps you

I would definitely talk to the store owner or manager and complain. Explaining in full the problem and how the warranty just recently expired. Usually, not always but worth a try is if you complain enough, they will fix the problem. They dont want bad referrals and want to make customer happy. cant ever hurt to complain and ask for it to be fixed.
