Your own business is harder, more work and more risk of failure, but the possible rewards are higher, too. You have to be willing to work really hard for not-much-per-hour at first.
Working for someone else you are just selling your labor. You give your time to them and do what they say for that time to advance their agenda (not yours). For me it's a reasonable trade then the rest of my time belongs to me.

It all depends, if you are happy with your current job and have a good boss and a comfortable work environment, then I would say keep it.
With a small business, it is next to impossible to start the business on your own, so you need people to rely on and if those people don't have the exact same mindset as you, a lot of your hopes and dreams will be distorted and the business won't go in the direction that you would have hoped for.

I've owned and operated two business in the past and you have to ask yourself "Do I like a steady paycheck?" If you work for someone else you are assured to have a paycheck at the end of every week. If you own your own business, than your income will be determined by many different factors, your own business savvy, current market conditions, and sometimes just plain dumb luck. Good Luck!

It really depends on the individual. I tried runnign my own business for a bit, and learned a lot about myself. Evidently, I'm not as good a businesman as I thought I was. I like my job now, and I have great benefits. Something I'm not sure I would have been able to provide myself as a business owner. Get educated before running your own business.

I would work for others until you feel you have enough experience in a career for you to open up your own business. You know, work your way up to the top, observe others' mistakes so you don't make those mistakes. See what makes the top businessmen successful, and mimic them.

if you work for someone else, you'll have a steady paycheck every week. if you work for yourself you're hostage to how much profit the company makes. however, you can make far more money as an owner than an employee if the business is successful
