I am a female, and I have a male friend that I was at one time intimate with. We have remained friends through the years. He never initializes emails, but is happy to get mine.
I wonder if I ignore him for a while will he stop taking our friendship for granted?

Yeah I would back off for awhile and see if he e-mails you...If you stop e-mailing him and he honestly cares, he will realize "hmm..why has she stopped e-mailing me" thats just how men are..

No, he will not stop taking your relationship for granted if you stop sending emails. He will think that you no longer want to contact him or something else.

Was he ever the type of guy to initiate communication? Some people are just not the initiating type. If he is always happy to here from you, why are you making such a big deal about it.

Just be direct with him. Let him know that you like communicating with him and being his friend but it would be nice and special for you, he initiated an email ever now and then. That's all. No need to stop communicating with him unless you just don't want to be friends anymore.

I have a friend like that too we have been friends sine i was 15 (now I'm 24) and just like 2 yr ago we started getting intimate and now when he come over to visit all he wants is sex so what i did was once i knew He was coming down to visit i would make it so i would not be home or just say i wouldn't be able to see him. like the first time i did that he got mad and didn't talk to me from like 4 months but now he learned his lesson that he is not going to have me when ever he whats to and to stop taking our friendship for granted just because we were intimate once doesn't mean that our friendship is just based on that. Try something like that and if he interested in being your friend then he would understand you that you feel like he is talking your friendship for granted. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Do you want more than just a friendship? If you do, go into your girly bag of tricks, I'm sure you can come up with something that will peak his interest. Be creative as I'm sure you can, most women are smarter than men anyway!
