It was a yellow finch, found under our large front window...probably thought it was an open space! We vaguely remember some type of bad luck supposedly associated with finding a dead bird. Any comments?

A dead black bird is a sign of an impending death. A dead blue bird mean is a sign of an impending sickness. A dead red-bird is a sign that a curse may have been put on your home. Try and counteract these by sprinkling a mixture of sage and cinnamon around your house and yard.

An old "wives tale" states that if a bird flys into your window, it means someone inside is going to die soon! My grandmother told me this along time ago...She was a Cherokee Indian...I don't know if this originated with "Native Americans" or not, but when she died, we found a carcass of a bird on our back patio that looked like a "Phoenix

Depends on where you live I guess. I live in South Louisiana, and right now dead birds can be associated with the West Nile Virus.
I hope that is not the case w/ you. In any event, I would use caution when moving the bird.

I know they say that someone might die, bad luck might be inflicted to the property, or it may be just what you said. Don't dwell on the negative because even if it doesn't mean anything, you can make things happen if you think negatively.
