THEY ARE MAKING A DECISION TODAY; THAT'S WHY I HAVE TO TYPE IT & RUN THIS DOWN THERE WITHIN TWO HOURS - I FEEL THEY THOUGHT I WAS OVER-QUALIFIED FOR THIS PART-TIME CLERICAL POSITION AT AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. I REALLY WANT THIS JOB THOUGH.
Thank you very much for taking the time to interview with me this morning. I especially want to thank everyone for making me feel comfortable. I can honestly say that I enjoyed the interview.
I would like to express an interest in the position. I know this position can offer me new responsibilities and a deeper understanding of school process. You mentioned that this position would not be as fast paced as my prior position; however, I feel since we are dealing with students, this position would be more important.
Please consider me in your decision to fill your clerical position.
Regardless of the decision, thank you again and have a great weekend.

Indi-heat, thank you for the constructive critizism, I did what you suggested with the other lines and took out important and changed it to "I feel since we are dealing with students, the leaders of our future, this position would be more meaningful"
Changed the last part of the letter to simply say thank you again.
Looks much better and not so "groveling" !! I'm off to turn it in!
Thanks everyone!!!

Change the last word of the second paragraph to meaningful rather than important, it just sounds better.
I would change the last two lines....something like..
"I am very excited at the prospect of coming to work at _____ Elementary. I am confident that I will be a valuable addition to your staff and I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of this successful educational institution."
You can say have a nice weekend, but don't say regardless of your decision, don't even give them pause to consider anyone other than you for the position!

I like it !!The only thing I would change is "I feel since we are dealing with students, this position would be more important". I think another word or phrase would sound better. It just doesn't sound professional enough, and how will they know what you mean by 'important'? Here's an idea : "I feel that a job that involves a lot of interaction with children would be more satisfying to me". Good Luck!!

Like another poster, I have never heard of a post interview letter either. Though I did ask my FIL who used to manage companies what he thought here is what he said.
He has never recieved a post interview letter in all the years that he had to hire or interview anyone. He thinks it sounds a bit to desperate and needy. And that although he never recieved one he said that if he did, he would pretty much disregard it. It has nothing to do with your skills for that job, he also mention again that it sounded a bit to desperate. He also said that it makes you seem like an *** kisser and he generally frowns on that.
But that is just his opinion.

I think you've covered it nicely. The fact that you even wrote a post-interview letter shows you're keen, whether you're over qualified or not. I really do think they'll take that into consideration.

You sound a little desperate. Back off a little bit.
Take out "please consider me in your decision to fill your clerical position"
add in something like.. "I look forward to hearing back from you"

If this is been faxed, this is carried out. it would want to be overkill at hand provide it. they have were given it and that is what counts. in the destiny, in basic terms snail mail your thanks letters. Mail them a similar day if conceivable or first element the subsequent morning. that is extra professional than faxing or hand-turning in. desire this helps.

sounds good...but, i think post-interview letters sound like begging. the employer already decided whether he/she wanted you there or not, way back when you had your interview. don't push your luck.
