Yes, the Laptop Manufacturers for starters. They will have them for most, if not all of your OEM installed hardware.

For any other installed hardware, I usually go to the respective hardware manufacturers, site.

For everything else,
I use Driver Detective to determine what driver files need to be updated: http://www.drivershq.com/

Hi,

Drivers are software programs produced by hardware manufactures to allow your operating system (e.g. Windows) to be able to communicate with the hardware device.

Most manufactures put these on their own sites for free download, as they are of no use if you haven't purchased the hardware.

My advice is check what drivers you want to update and for what device and then go to the manufacturer's web-site and there'll be a downloads/drivers section for you to get what you need.

Some manufactures will contain all the ones you need on their own site, e.g. Dell

yes - it's the site of the manufacturer of your laptop, assuming you bought a good one. Dell have a good download checking system - they match it to the exact machine you have.

Otherwise, if it's third party hardware, the third party site.

I don't think anyone charges for drivers. Drivers exist because without them the paid-for products don't work, so if they want to sell something, they have to make the drivers available.
