or some other such minor imperfection, and dont have any input as to your question, only to try to belittle you.

It is easy to overlook the small, innocently made spelling errors, but so many of the postings here, as you can see, are rife with gross misspellings. So many of these postings are usually in the Education & References section, too. I know that I make spelling mistakes, but I try to correct them before the answer is sent. On many of the questions where the spelling is terrible, it is often nearly impossible to figure out the question, or what the querant is trying to say. Would you agree that this can be frustrating to those who might feel qualified to answer that question? For myself, I would never deliberately belittle anyone for their spelling/ grammar errors, but I will feel free to comment on the issue.
God Bless and have a wonderful day & weekend!

Some people have a strong sense of pedantry and would prefer it if the world were all prim and proper and every one used the correct spelling and punctuation.

As a "recovering dyslexic" I have spent a lot of time working hard to get a good grip on how words are built and how sentences are made. I spend so much time correcting myself harshly, it is often difficult to stop myself from telling others.

But this being the Internet, rules and things ought to be more relaxed, but it's still worth making the effort so you don't totally fall into bad habits.

My biggest bug bear is the apostrophe.

Most normal people wouldn't care, because we are in fact people, no matter what some alien loving people believe. We are prone to our mistakes and I welcome them. The only reason I would ever try and correct someones errors, would be if it was so blatently bad that I could barely comphrehend the question. In which case I would still attempt an answer that would be somewhat relevant, or hoping to be...

We like sentences to begin with capital letters (unlike your first), and sentences to be complete (unlike your second ), apostrophes to be used (your "dont"), etc.
It's a matter of common courtesy to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. That helps a message get across sincerely and clearly. It also separates the wheat from the chaff!

I think they do it because they are playing a game and trying to rack up points. They don't need to give a good answer to your question--only an answer, any answer--to get points. I think people who belittle others on this site are also somewhat small-minded people. It gives them some kind of a boost to be mean. That occurs in all types of games if you pay attention.

Awwwww, poor baby! Can't handle even "minor" criticism, huh? If I misspell a word, even as a typo, I appreciate being told about it. It may embarrass me for a time, but it teaches me something, even if it's only to pay closer attention to what I'm writing.

They want the two points, but have nothing to add to the question.
