IF God is all-knowing and all-powerful, then you have to accept that EVERYTHING that happens is EXACTLY according to plan. Everything.
God would know that Adam would take the forbidden fruit, and being all-powerful God could have created a version of the universe where Adam didn't. God even knew that some millenia down the line you would miss that bus because your alarm didn't go off, and being all-powerful God could have created a version of the universe where your alarm clock would have gone off and you would have been on time.
But God didn't.
That leaves ONLY two choices: either everything that happens is exactly according to plan, or one of our premises is wrong and God is not actually all-powerful or is not actually all-knowing. There is simply no other possibility.

No, God did not know that Adam would commit the 'sin'. What he/she did know was that when man was created, he was created with the ability to make choices so God knew the ability to choose to eat of the forbidden fruit was always there. Man could choose to trust and obey or choose to use his own mind and make a different choice. God also created all the angels in heaven and if one is to believe the bible in a literal sense, then we know that the angels too were created with the ability to make choices too and some chose to do God's will and follow his word and some chose to follow their own ideas and desires and were kicked out of heaven.

The same can be asked of Job... why did He put that poor faithful man through so much hardships and pains if he "knew" how it would turn out in the end... he IS, uh, "all-knowing..." or omniscient... right? There seems to be some contradiction in both examples... a bit of a discrepency, or inconsistency or maybe a bit of incongruity... no?
But, if God mad a being that would make its own decisions, didn't he know this beforehand... and why punish him and his mate for doing what he already KNEW would happen? Has God just been amusing Him/Herself with mankind? Was JC's birth, his trials and tribulations and his crucifiction and resurrection just an exercise in futility... since he "knew" what would happen before he even thought of giving mankind his only son...? (Hold it... aren't WE all his children, too?)

The Judeo-Christian bible is loaded with logical failures. If God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, then, of course, He knew Adam would commit sin. And He could have stopped the crucifixion of Jesus, if He wanted to. And the world would have a single religion if He wanted that. And ...

Yes, God in his foreknowledge knew that Adam and Eve would sin. Due to his nature of complete love, God had to give them the choice. God allows us to have free will and to choose whether to obey and trust him. He would not be a loving God if he didn't allow us to have a choice. What kind of life would that be?
God knew that Adam and Eve would sin and in his infinite wisdom, he had a plan to redeem man (sending his son, Jesus Christ). To the person that answered that God could have stopped the crucifixion: of course he could have! He can do anything he wants. The crucifixion was part of his plan to redeem mankind and bring them back to him. Jesus knew this and freely gave his life. He knew that at any point in time, he could have called out to God and God would have sent legions of angels to save him. He did not and at that point became our savior.

Well he never would have committed the sin if it wasn't for Eve. So maybe you should ask did god no eve was going to commit the sin and then tempt Adam with it. By the way Gods punishment to Eve for disobeying him was to have Painful Childbirth. Us Guys got of pretty easy on that one.

Yes, of course. God's plan was to create a creature that would dare to make it's own decisions regardless of the threat of uncomfortable change. Adam and Eve did just as God had planned - and gave all of mankind the opportunity to choose their destiny.

Wouldn't the better question be, who committed the greater sin, Adam or Eve?

This is the rare religion question that actually belongs in philosophy because it asks for logic. But, it is unfair to use logic in religion. That is why there is a religion section. The answer is yes. And it is one reason why the Hebrew faith has but one deity - Yahweh. There is no devil or any other being but God and he is the reason for everything.
I am an agnostic.

How did god create Adam?? Did he just appear out of the air, did he show up fully grown or did he start as a baby?? Was he hatched out of an egg?? And why don't you people think of him as the son of god and not the Jewish carpenter dude, Jesus??
