i'm very liberal, but i watch fox news just for pure entertainment value ( it makes me laugh, like when they called foley a democrat, fockin hilarious!) i was wondering if conservatives watch liberal shows like the daily show or colbert report just for laughs. and if they don't why not.

I don't think they do - and the proof is in the ratings. FoxNews is the #1 cable news channel, and Air America just went bankrupt. Is this because there are more conservatives than liberals? Absolutely not. In fact - the majority of Americans are liberal - a fact that the neoCon machine is well aware of, which is why over the last decade they have totally stepped up their game in the "advertising department" - which includes the far-right-wing-conservative media.

The explanation of the ratings is simply that the conservatives are listening to their own COUPLED with the fact that more liberals are listening/watching conservative media than THEIR own. Why? For 2 reasons: (a) conservative media is more entertaining. As much as I want to throw a brick at the radio/TV whenever I hear Hannity, O'Reilly, or Limbaugh deliberately twist a fact or mis-state a liberal position, the bottom line is that they are FAR more entertaining than those who were on AirAmerica or some of the other TV stations (and really - there is no liberal equivalent to FoxNews on TV, despite what the far-right would have you believe). I'll readily admit that I've logged more hours listening to Sean Hannity than I ever did to Randi Rhodes; (b) liberals are much more curious about what the other side thinks than conservatives are. Liberals are very aware of where conservatives stand because we actually LISTEN to conservatives state their views. Conservatives don't have ANY idea what liberals think - because they NEVER listen to liberals discuss their ideas....they only listen to conservatives (already pre-disposed to hating liberals) interpret what liberals think - which is - obviously - always going to be portrayed negatively.

The summation: liberals watch/listen to both "liberal" TV/radio AND conservative TV/radio. Conservatives predominantly ONLY watch conservative TV/radio.

It's hard to watch liberal news broadcasts because it's so much like saturday morning cartoons. You know full well that it's fantasy and slanted so far to the left it's a wonder it doesn't topple over. In order to watch, you also have to deal with that smug, "I know better than you do" attitude that most liberals present. Just look at that numbnutz Keith Olberman. He wouldn't know the truth if it slapped him across the face and functionally, he couldn't pour pee out of a hipboot but you'd think he was some super genius they way he talks. No, sorry, it's just too painful to watch.

I dont watch liberal new shows. As for Fox News being conservative, regardless of what you may think, it is not strictly conservative. Who called Foley a Democrat anyway?

Of course I do, but not for laughs. Just because a news cast, newspaper or radio show has a liberal or conservative bend does not mean it has no news or views worth knowing about. It is dismissing others views that has foolishly led us down the road to school yard name calling politics.

That is very common. In fact Rush Linbaugh's audience is by far libs. I guess to keep an eye on the other side. Too bad no one actually listens and CONSIDERS the other side. What a great place this would be!

I surf various news sites online for the news. Politics bores me with all the brainless mudslinging. I really wish we could just take politicians of all stripes and do away with them, but someone has to run this crazy world. I sure as hell do not want the job. My business makes me more than any job in D.C. can pay me.

I do but i admit i sometimes get so angry i have to turn it to someone with some sense.(Rush) on the radio. Most media are telling lies to push their own agenda.
