It would depend. We are assuming a male-female-something else kind of arrangement. That might not be a logical assumption.
Assuming a male-female-something else setup is easier to make assumptions about the third sex though.
If the sex cells came from two of the three sexes, but had to be incubated by a third.
If the "egg-type" cell needed to be fertilized by two different types of "sperm-type" cells This would raise the question of what the karyotype of an tri-sexed organism would look like. Humans exist in disomy (two copies of each chromosome). If each of the trisexed organisms contributed one copy of each chromosome, they might exist in trisomy. Much more stable evolutionarily (less chance of a mutation mucking up the works with two other good copies).
These are all I can think of, but I'm sure there are more possibilities.

Actually their are creatures here on earth that god created that do not require two to reproduce.
The there are creatures that require another
species to reproduce, like some wasps require
certain trees to reproduce. AND the tree needs
the wasp to make seeds, without the tree the wasps
would die and without that wasp the trees would die,.
Just from a ball of mud exploding in space by accident??

It would have to be compatible with the other sexes so perhaps some apendage with both male and female parts that would fit in the middle like a sandwich or 3 way.

The first two (male and female) could have sex all day and the other (asexual) one could go out and look for a job.
I think that would be an advance!

We have the third king already. Eunuch. They are originally male and castrated on birth. They take pride in calling themselves woman. They dress like one. This sect was evolved during the Mogul rule in India to ensure safety of women in the harem of the king.

It is hard enough to get two people to get along. Having a third would probably result in the extinction of that species.

One would carry the egg, one the sperm and the third would carry the fertilized egg to birth. The child would have three parents and the sexual couple would have a voyeur to watch them copulate.

It would look like Michael Jackson.
Either that or like that character "Pat" from Saturday Night Live and the movie.
Creepy either way.
