Please tell me "how the world has changed since the invention of the airplane?" How did people travel before its invention? How often did people travel? How far were they usually able to go and how long did it take to get there?

Prior to the development of commercial air travel, people generally got to where they were going by train or ship.

A train trip in the 1930's from New York to California took about three days and, like air travel, generally required a layover at some point on the way--I think Chicago was a major hub.

To go to Europe or Asia, one took a ship. The ocean liners could usually make a run from the eastern US to Britain in about a week (I'm using the same time frame of the 1930's). A trip across the Pacific, leaving from the West coast, would vary according to the destination, but I'd guesstimate about 2-3 weeks.

Hope this helps.
