This case is in the death of a 5 year old who substained a blunt trauma to her head. She also had other abuse like injuries and the investigation is still on but we are all getting very impatient because this happened to her on the 10th of Sept and she died on the 16th.

Despite what TV shows, DNA testing can take up to 2 weeks to complete. So a detailed autopsy can take quite a long time in the end.

My husband's sister had a stillborn baby back in August. The results from the autopsy just came back this week. It could take weeks to months, depending on the situation.

I think it all depends on the bodies condition. If was just a murder case, and the body isn't too slottered, it would probably take at least 2 to 3 hours or so. If it were a body that was burned, then they obviously already know what killed it so it only take about 1 to 2 hors, just to really make sure it wasn't drugged in the process.

It took 18 months for the complete autopsy on my sister to get back in Tn.

it depends how thorough they have to be and what they are looking for, if someones head is cut off it shouldn't take long, if they died under mysterious circumstances it will take longer.
