It's all a matter of preference and finances.
I bought a used 21 inch CRT monitor back in 1998 because I wanted one that size for graphics and could certainly not afford a new one. I wish I still had it actually, but it was too large and c umbersome when i went to full time RVing ....

So, if you are fine with what you have, then cool.

As long as the screen doesn't bother you and it doesn't hurt your eyes. A newer monitor would be easier on your eyes in most cases. But a brand spankin new monitor isn't necessary.

It depends, if you want to play some games, you have to have a moniter that will operate with certain pixle rates. Your moniter will do just fine, i would guess, for running your computer, any one will do as long as it turns on and shows a display.
