I was in the Navy as a youth and tried to answer this by experimentation. When on the Equator it made no difference, it just went down the same way. Besides it always does, it is just our positions with regard to the plughole in different hemispheres that changes. When in the north we are seeing the plughole from "above", when in the south we see the plughole from "below" as we are on the "bottom" of the world. It is our orientation that changes, not the way the water goes down.

The coriolis effect which, supposedly controls the 'spin' of the water is much too weak to have an effect on draining water from your basin. If it spins at all it is only due to the configuration of the basin it resides in. In my bathroom basin I have noticed that it normally spins clockwise, but occasionally spins counterclockwise, and rarely goes straight down.

I stay in Michigan (the single formed like a mitten) interior of u . s . a . of america in the Northern Hemisphere. The water swirls clockwise the picture of it does in each and every of the NH. this is the rigidity of the Coriolis. I laughed at "anti clockwise". we are saying counter clockwise.
