Not really.
I use a Cordless Phone here, but, cell the same, just the base is the Tower, which we can not modify.
You can make a better Antenna and replace the one on your base. And, you can replace the one on your handset too.
Two things.
One your phone may not comply with FCC regulations. When you increase the gain your phone transmit with more strength. This was a problem with the old CB radios when people "open them up" or use a "Linear Amplifier" They were interfering with other Transmissions. Called; "Bleeding".
Two, Antennas have to be designed to the Frequency of the Transmitter or you Burn it up. It called; "Wave-Length" you may be able to find a Book at Radio Shack, or information on the inet that help you calculate your gain, you use the Frequency that in your owner's manual. Then make your Antenna. Say now your Antenna 1/4 wave-length, you may be able to make it a little longer and get a 1/2 wavelength which make it pickup better and further away. Been a long Time I did this stuff, have a Ham Radio License.
